Chapter Three – Taking The Next Right Step A Scripture verse I read last week that struck me was Luke 1:37 (NIV), "For no word from God will ever fail." God can handle anything. If this is true, how can God make everything possible when it seems like God isn't helping? Can we even begin to understand what this verse implies? Whatever God says will happen! How often do we think we have heard from God regarding a situation but begin to doubt what we have heard from Him? Our faith in God often gets smaller because of times in the past when we prayed for someone or something and didn't get the answer we wanted. Look at Luke 1:37 again, "For no word from God will ever fail." In a commentary, this could also be translated as "no word of God shall be powerless." (1) God will definitely do what He said He would do. Clarence L. Haynes Jr. states, "As powerful as God is, God moves in response to your faith. The first question on the checklist (and this is where I would start myself) is: do you believe what God said is true? This requires serious consideration of what's in your heart because if you don't believe, everything stops there." (2) Therefore, as we learn in Chapter Three, God has a specific plan for your life, and when we know what He says is accurate, all that is left is a response. We can look to Jesus' mother, Mary's response in Luke 1:38, "I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered. "May your word to me be fulfilled." Then the angel left her. It is as if she is saying back to the angel may the power of the word from the Lord be fulfilled through me and my yes! The only way we can confidently say yes to God is because we know what He has asked is actual and possible.
