What You Think About, You Bring About

Often times the voice in my head can be negative and critical.

Today in Bible study we were studying Proverbs regarding the mind, mouth and discernment.

When it comes to our thoughts do we follow our head or our emotions?

One of the gals gave us some awesome advice. When negative or judgmental thoughts come to your mind, run those thoughts through a test. Ask yourself if what you are thinking is it logical? Is is true? If it isn’t logical or true than you need to get rid of that thought.

Here is an example: If you think you are not worthy for a great job, life or spouse, then you need to run these thoughts through the test.

Is it logical?

No it is not logical, because there is something good for everyone. The Word of God tells you that you are a child of God and He has a plan for you. No one can take this away from you. (Psalm 139 and 2 Corinthians 6:8).

Is it true?

The thought of being unworthy isn’t true because “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.’ (John 3:15 NIV). Why would God give up His only Son if you weren’t worthy? Therefore this thought isn’t true.

Most often our thoughts find a way out of our mouth with words of life or death. In order to guard our mouth, we must also guard our minds. Feed your mind with good and holy thoughts by praying and reading God’s Word.

God who created everything with intricate detail has created you. Do not let your thoughts rob you of all that God has in store for you.
